Discover Yame
Yame (八女) is a city in Fukuoka prefecture. Yame tea (八女茶) is one of the largest Japanese tea production areas, and as famous as other places like Shizuoka, Uji and Chiran. The name "Yame" (八女) comes from a passage in the Nihon Shoki, the oldest text of Japanese history and legends, that states that a goddess named Yame Tsuhime lives in the mountains in this area, so the city is named after her.
