Nguru (Hausa:Guru) is a town in Yobe State, northeastern part of Nigeria. It is the headquarters of Nguru Local Government Area and a major trade center for the surrounding Kanuri, Bede, and Manga peoples Nguru was founded in the 15th century and later became part of the Bornu kingdom. The town has a long history of being a strategic location between the Hausa states and Bornu. Today, Nguru is a major collecting point for gum arabic and also ships peanuts, cotton, meat, hides, and skins by rail.
