Hadejia is a city of about 180,000 people (2022). The majority of the population belongs to the Hausa ethnic group and speaks Hausa. Hadejia is the headquarters of the Hadejia Local Government Area and serves as the administrative center of the Hadejia Emirate. The Hadejia Emirate is one of the traditional emirates in Nigeria and has a long history dating back several centuries.
