Lushnja (definite form: Lushnjë) is a town and municipality in Coastal Albania, a former capital of Albania. The municipality's population is 63,135 as of 2023. Lushnjë had an important role following the independence of Albania. In January 1920, Lushnjë was a provisional capital of Albania and the site of the Congress of Lushnjë. Leaders of Albania assembled in the town and declared Tirana first a provisional and then the definitive capital of Albania.

There is no bus directly from the airport to Shijak, but you can take a cab. The airport is 83 km from Lushnjë. Your first option is to travel by bus.
