Discover Firouzabad

Firouzabad (Persian: فيروزآباد‎‎ ; Middle Persian: Gōr or Ardashir-Khwarrah, literally "The Glory of Ardashir") is a city with population of 60,000 in Fars province, Iran. The town is surrounded by a mud wall and ditch. There used to be an ancient city of Gōr on this place, which was later destroyed by Alexander of Macedonia. Centuries later, Ardashir I, founder of the Sassanid Dynasty, revived the city before it was ransacked during the Arab invasion of the 7th century.
