Come join us for an unforgettable brown bear viewing adventure at the renowned at Pack Creek Bear Sanctuary. Your day kicks off with a breathtaking 25-minute floatplane flight to Pack Creek. Known as the "Fortress of the Bears," Admiralty Island holds the Tlingit name Kootznoowoo, and it lives up to its title with an impressive brown bear population of approximately 1,800. Upon arrival, you'll receive a warm welcome from the dedicated rangers of Pack Creek. Afterwards, you'll tread the same paths as the bears, exploring the shoreline and forest trails that lead to prime brown bear viewing spots. From the banks of Pack Creek, you'll have the incredible opportunity to observe bears in their natural habitat, whether they're engaged in salmon fishing or enjoying a nap in the tall grass. Brown bears are most active during mating season (late May - June) and annual salmon runs (late July - August). Kayaking is included in the tour from June 20th to July 20th due to limited bear activity.

Your day begins with a trip briefing and safety orientation led by your experienced wilderness guide, followed by a captivating 30-minute floatplane flight to Chichagof Island. Touch down at the remote and lesser-known wilderness location of Waterfall Creek, a hidden gem that offers unparalleled brown bear viewing during the peak of the salmon run, from late July to August. The primary viewing location is just a short stroll along the rocky shoreline. Brown bears may make an appearance at any moment while you're ashore. Your knowledgeable guide will direct you to the best vantage points for optimal viewing and photography. After several hours of absorbing the beauty of brown bear viewing, embark on a hike back to your awaiting floatplane, ready to transport you back to Juneau. This is an authentic Alaskan wilderness adventure! While we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings, the abundant bear population in the Waterfall Creek area rarely disappoints. 

The Kokura Gion Taiko, which colours the summer in Kokura, is a traditional event representing the region, boasting a history of approximately 400 years. In preparation for the main festival, enthusiastic practice sessions are held throughout the city every year from 2nd July until the third Thursday of the month. This plan offers the opportunity to participate in these practice sessions alongside local people during this period and experience playing the taiko drums yourself. The resonant sound of the drums, struck with powerful shouts, reverberates through your body with sheer force. Rather than merely “watching” traditional culture, “participating and feeling” it deepens your understanding and appreciation of the festival. Furthermore, experiencing Kokura's unique culture, “Kakuchi”*, allows you to learn about the local standing bar culture specific to this area. Kakuchi is a “local experience offering a taste of everyday Japan”.

Experience the Iconic Yamaboko Junko Float Procession of the Gion Matsuri! Witness one of Japan’s most legendary festivals, the Gion Matsuri Yamaboko Float Procession, from a reserved seat with excellent visibility. This centuries-old tradition is held twice: ・Saki Matsuri(features 23 Yamaboko): July 17 ・Ato Matsuri(features 10 Yamaboko): July 24 Both processions feature stunning floats, traditional music, and Kyoto’s rich heritage.
