NamoBuddha - Balthali - Khopasi Hike
40 KM away from Kathmandu lies one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in the word for Buddhists. Legends say a young prince, Mahasattva, (in some versions, reincarnation of Buddha himself) while walking in a forest with his brothers saw a tigress with 5 cubs she had just given birth to. The tigress was so hungry that she could barely move. Overcome with compassion, he began to feed the tigress and her cubs by cutting his flesh. Later when other brothers came searching for him, he found only his bones and hairs. A stupa was built on top of these remains, now known as NAMO BUDDHA. Sprawling terraced rice fields, typical Newari villages, view of snowcapped mountains in a clear day, Buddhist temples, and green forests are few of the attractions of KHOPASI-BALTHALHI HIKE. Our chartered bus will drive us up to Batase Danda and from there will begin our hike.

Panauti is a historical Newari town which is one of the oldest towns in Nepal, with many temples dating back to the 15th Century or earlier. Panauti proves to be a touristy heritage site with so many temples, Buddhist stupas and statues, with the added charm of being surrounded by lots and lots of green paddy fields.
